Some of the best experiences I’ve had, I cannot – rather, prefer not to – write about.
It’s a shame, really. They would make for great stories.
But that’s just it, they’re not just stories.
Yes, they all have beginnings and endings…but it’s the in-betweens that I cannot capture in words. Or again, would rather keep to myself.
Perhaps someday I’d write my memoirs and put in every tiny bit of detail of how things turned out and what it all meant to me. Perhaps.
Or maybe…
I’ll just draw upon my memories and interpretation of them from time to time…
when I’m walking down the street and for a moment think I see a familiar face in a crowd…
when I’m in the middle of doing something completely mundane yet memorable if only because it was shared with someone…
or even in my sleep…especially that space and time between waking and dreaming when the past, present, and future all come together.
Yes. I feel for now, that’s how it will be.
I don’t mind one bit being by and smiling to myself as I go about my everyday business. It doesn’t really matter if other people who see me doing it think I’m nuts.
What matters is what I’ll remember.
